Las Vegas is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the US, and for good reason. The Las Vegas Strip is a hot commodity, and there are also natural landscapes and beautiful scenery beyond the Strip. From totally urbanized and energetic to calm and nature-rich, this city has both and everything in between. As one of the best cities in the US to visit for new travelers, this spot has coined the phrase: "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas," and for shopaholics, there's a reason for that - nowhere else can travelers find a shopping atmosphere quite like the one in Vegas, especially on its famous Fremont Street.

What Is Special About Fremont Street In Las Vegas?

Fremont Street is located north of the Las Vegas Strip in Downtown Vegas, and this street is where it all began. Las Vegas's actual birth took place here. Before the founding of Las Vegas in 1905, Fremont Street was one of the main streets throughout the area because of how close it was to the very first train depot in the city. This street was also the very first road to be paved in 1925 and the first road to have a stoplight in 1931. During this time, Hotel Nevada, which is now known as the Golden Gate Hotel & Casino, was the first hotel on the street.

From a history of being first in Vegas, visitors walking down Fremont Street will feel not only the rich history but the energetic atmosphere. The Fremont Street Experience was opened in 1995, which covers the first few blocks of the street and gives tourists all sorts of fun activities to participate in before continuing on to see the local and unique markets and shops. These activities include:

  • Free concerts
  • Shows every evening
  • Restaurants and bars
  • A giant zipline
  • The largest video screen in the world

The Fremont Street Experience offers visitors so many different experiences in one spot: on their way to the shops and markets that make the street famous for its culture.
